TÜRK-İŞ/GAZİ UNIVERSITY JOINT “DECENT WORK PANEL”
Decent Work Agenda was initiated by Juan SOMAVIA, the Director General of the ILO. In the Final Outcome Statement of the UN World Summit held in September 2005, 150 global leaders agreed to place “Decent Work” as a central objective of relevant national and international policies.
In 2007, five organizations including ITUC and ETUC launched the “Decent Work, Decent Life Campaign”. Also in October 2007, the call to action for decent work was launched at the ILO forum on fair globalization. On the World Day for Decent Work the call to action will be presented to the highest EU political representatives in Brussels.
In order to mark the World Day for Decent Work and to inform the public, our Confederation will hold a joint “Decent Work Panel” on the 7th of October 2007 in cooperation with the Faculty of Economy of the University of Gazi. The panel will start at 10:00’a clock on Tuesday.
Financial Secretary of TÜRK-İŞ, Mr Ergün ATALAY, Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Rıza AYHAN, Prof. Dr. Kadir ARICI and the ILO Representative of Turkey Mrs. Gülay ASLANTEPE will adress the Panel during the opening session.
