Activities related to the WDDW organised by the CMKOS and its affiliated trade unions:

• The CMKOS appealed to affiliated branch trade unions to use the WDDW for intensifying our common campaigns against the antisocial reform of public finances and against the governmental scenario for privatization of public services, especially health care.

• The WDDW serves also to strengthen the fight of unions in the public sector against the fall of their salaries.

• The most “visible” activity is the demonstration of the Trade Union of Fire Fighters and related branch unions called due to internal circumstances on the 1st October in Prague. The main demands focus on better working conditions and salaries – logo and slogans of the WDDW will be used.

• In parallel The Trade Union of Workers in Culture and Protection of Nature sent an open letter to the Czech Government and to all members of the Parliament about the disastrous situation in the domain of Czech culture in respect of salary and human resources policies, privatizations, etc., demanding decent work conditions.

• Also the Trade Union of Health Service and Social Care in the Czech Republic decided to start its „open days campaign” pursuing its fight against the misconceived health reform.

• In the similar way the CMKOS senior organisation held its session at the end of September under the WDDW logo demanding decent living conditions of the retired and opposing the present ill-conceived pension reform.

• In the private sector, OS KOVO – together with metalworkers organisations from countries in the region – will organise on 10.-11.10.2008 in Prague a conference on precarious work related to the decent work campaign.

• Trade Union of Building Workers (OS STAVBA) put decent work on the agenda of its different sessions and assemblies during September and October. Regional assemblies of grass root organisations, starting on 7 October, will deal with it, too.

The representative of the CMKOS in the Governmental Committee for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men will inform the session of this Committee to be held on 7 October about the WDDW and its goals.

In order to further publicise the WDDW and its goals the CMKOS will address in this respect the highest body of the CR Association for Tenants Protection.

The CMKOS delegation will participate in the European rally to be held in Paris on 7th October, organised by the ETUC and the French confederations.

Publicity for the WDDW is provided by the CMKOS web side and the revue SONDY, as well as by the press of some branch trade unions.
