World Day for Decent Work

Germany, 7. Oktober

More than 25 public events on Minimum wage and Temporary work

DGB

The Confederation of German Trade Unions DGB is organising through its districtal and regional branches more than 25 public events on the occasion of the World Day for Decent Work and has called upon its members to participate in these activities (see attached below the Resolution of the Federal Executive Board on the World Day for Decent Work). For the capital city of Berlin, three events are scheduled.

The activities will concentrate on two issues, which are not only of importance to the present national debate, but also have an international dimension: The fight of German trade unions for a minimum wage and the struggle for fair and decent working conditions in the ever increasing sector of temporary work. On the issue of minimum wage, the activities on October 7th are essential part of a nation-wide campaign of DGB (see attached samples of campaign-postcards below). On temporary work, DGB’s biggest branch union IG Metall is campaigning all over Germany, choosing for its mobilisation on October 7th the city of Hannover.
